The Vietnamese community is filled with surprises; from the flavourful spices we use in our cooking, the handmade souvenirs and clothes, to the vibrant paintings created by our local artists. Salinda wishes to ensure that those talents and passions don’t remain unnoticed by showcasing local products in our resort. The pathway our guests take every morning to reach our exquisite breakfast buffet is decorated with paintings by Vietnamese artists, featuring the country’s most breathtaking sceneries. Our guests are encouraged to support local talents by purchasing and giving their favorite paintings a home. Handmade ceramics can be found in our guest rooms and various facilities, accompanied by carefully crafted lacquer paintings and plates. By collaborating with Mekong Quilts, a non-profit organisation which creates sustainable employment for under-privileged women, Salinda is able to exhibit the true beauty and talents of Vietnamese artisans.
Inspired by the talents and stories of local artisans, we have dedicated ourselves to celebrate and uphold the finest traditions of Vietnam. We work in partnership with the local community by offering Vietnamese performers and dancers a chance to perform during our special events. For example, during Tet Holiday Season, we invited children from local schools under coaching of a professional instructor to perform a famous traditional Lion Dance.

It is important for Salinda to deliver the best and freshest meals for you to enjoy in our restaurants and support our local community in the process. We maximise the purchase of organic, locally grown food from eco-farms, whilst keeping the imported products down to only 1% of our total food purchases. On top of ensuring benefits to the soil, water and local habitat, it also allows to celebrate the culture of new agriculture in Vietnam.
MAKING THE FUTURE A BETTER PLACE
Purple Purpose is a mission we value in Salinda and in our community. But we also wish to encourage the young generation to become a part of our mission; practice sustainable economy and promote cultural potential in the hospitality industry as well as in their daily lives. With the help of a college in Singapore, a school which embodies environmental stewardship in their core values, Salinda will be able to send a group of student volunteers to teach English and create educational activities for kids and teenagers in the local Phu Quoc school starting in 2019. In addition, the student volunteers can be pioneers of the world of hotel management by helping out at Vocational hospitality college of Phu Quoc. Together with our future generation, we hope that we can inspire a sustainable future through education and kindness.
